BNL HET, NT, and Riken-BNL Seminars

The standard time for the High Energy Theory/RIKEN seminar is 1:30 on Wednesday.

The standard time for Nuclear Physics seminars is 11:00 on Tuesday. There is also a Nuclear Theory/RIKEN seminar on Friday at 2:00.

On Thursday the RIKEN-BNL center has an informal lunch seminar at 12:30.

On Friday there is an informal HET lunch time talk at 12:00.

N.B.: Nuclear Theory Seminars should all be listed on the HET&NT home page, but to check for all Nuclear Seminars, please see the departmental wide list.

Instructions for Scheduling Seminars

Seminars can now be added to the schedule using a form linked to the seminar page. Enter your username, the password for the form, and the requested information. Use TeX syntax for any mathematical expressions in the title. The text fields will scroll, e.g., to accomodate a long title. Do not enter any carriage returns or other special in the fields of the form.

The information from the form is added to the file /usr/local/etc/httpd/seminars/seminars.dat on quark.phy.bnl.gov with the format

where the yyyy... line specifies the date. After a seminar is added, this file is read, sorted by date and time, and formatted to make the current and past seminar lists. The sort is also run every night from cron.

So far there is no form to modify an existing seminar. If you are in group www, however, you can edit the seminars.dat file and then run sortseminars.pl in the same directory to reformat the lists. The sorting program does not do much error checking, so be sure to keep exactly the above structure when editing the seminars.dat file.
